Great Memories

This past weekend I was fortunate enough to take part in what I would consider the most memorable hunt of my life.  Chris Bowden from Muddy Bottom Outfitters in Pittsville, Maryland invited me up to hunt one of his farms, where he had been seeing some great deer.  Upon the invitation, I ask Chris if I could bring my father along for the hunt and he agreed.

My father and I hit the road bright and early on Thursday morning to ensure ample time to be in the blind that afternoon.  After the eight-hour trip, we jumped into our Scent-Lok suits and hit the woods.  On Friday, our second afternoon, this awesome buck stepped out at 300 yards in the back corner of the food plot.  After closing the distance to around 90 yards, I made a great shot and it was a very short recovery.

It had been many years since my father and I have had the opportunity to share a deer blind together.  Just to sit in the blind and catch up on life and to see the excitement in his eyes when the buck stepped out was more than I could have ever imagined.  To me, this is what hunting and Whitetail Fix is all about. It’s not always about the kill or the size of the animal, but the memories made along the way.

This is a memorable hunt that I will cherish as long as I live.  A great thanks goes out to Chris and everyone at Muddy Bottom for making this the hunt of a lifetime.
